Kestrel support
Write to hello@pronghornlabs.net. Say which device you’re using and what you were doing, and a person will answer. If you’re testing through TestFlight, feedback sent from the TestFlight app reaches us too.
Common questions
What is the difference between a fixed and a weighted segment?
A fixed segment always gets the length you give it. Weighted segments share whatever time is left after the fixed ones, in proportion to their weights: a segment with weight 2 gets twice as long as one with weight 1. The editor shows the minutes each one works out to.
I tapped Next early. Where did the time go?
It is spread over the weighted segments still to come, so the talk still finishes at the planned time. Fixed segments keep their length.
Why doesn’t a Program move on by itself?
A Program is run by a chair, so each item ends when you tap Next. Kestrel tracks how far ahead or behind you are and when the programme is heading to finish.
How do I get the floating timer on iPad?
Leave Kestrel while a timer is running and it pops out into picture in picture by itself, or use the button on the Live screen. If nothing happens, check that picture in picture is turned on in Settings › General › Picture in Picture.
The Live Activity doesn’t appear on my iPhone.
Check that Live Activity is on in Kestrel’s settings, and that Live Activities are allowed for Kestrel in your iPhone’s Settings. It appears once a timer has started.
My timers aren’t showing on my other device.
Both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on, and iCloud turned on in Kestrel’s settings on each. Changes can take a little while to arrive. If both devices change the same thing, the newer change wins.
Where are the meeting templates?
They are off by default. Turn on Meeting templates in Kestrel’s settings and they appear when you make a new timer. Timers you’ve already made from them stay either way.
