Kestrel
A stage timer for speakers.
For iPad, iPhone and Mac · on TestFlight
Kestrel shows you, in large numbers you can read from the lectern, how long is left of the part you’re on. Split a talk into segments, run a whole programme item by item, or set a countdown on the spot. Colour only ever means something: amber to wrap up, red when you’re over, and a word beside it as well.
Three kinds of timer
- Segmented. A total time split into segments. Each is either a fixed length or a share of what is left, by a weight you set, and the editor shows the minutes each works out to.
- Finish a segment early with Next, and the time saved is spread over the weighted segments still to come, so the talk still ends when planned.
- End by a time of day: start late and the weighted segments shrink to fit.
- Program. An agenda in sections, run by a chair. Kestrel shows how far ahead or behind you are, the planned and projected finish, and what each item actually took. Pauses, such as a song, move the plan rather than putting you behind.
- Quick. A countdown set on the spot, or a stopwatch.
On stage
- Countdown, stopwatch or clock, switchable while the timer runs. Over time counts on in red.
- On iPad, the timer floats over your notes or slides in picture in picture.
- On Mac, an always-on-top floating timer, and keyboard shortcuts for Start, Next and Reset.
- On iPhone, a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with Pause and Next.
- A tap on iPhone at wrap-up, at each new segment and when time is up, and the screen kept awake while you’re timing.
- Your timers, and a run in progress, stay in step across your devices through your own iCloud.
- Meeting templates for the Watchtower, CBS, Public Talk and the midweek meeting, if you turn them on.
