Kestrel privacy policy
Kestrel does not collect, store, share or sell any information about you. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we run no server that it talks to. It asks for no permissions: not your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos.
What stays on your device
The timers you make, a timer that is running, and your settings are saved on your own device so they are there the next time you open Kestrel. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, Kestrel keeps your timers and a run in progress in step across your iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud account. They are stored in your iCloud, under your Apple Account, and handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. We cannot see them. Your settings are not synced; they stay on each device. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud in Kestrel’s settings.
Live Activity and picture in picture
On iPhone, the Live Activity shows the timer’s name and countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so anyone who can see your phone can see them. You can turn it off in Kestrel’s settings. On iPad, the floating timer is drawn on the device itself. Neither sends anything off your device.
What Apple may collect
If you install Kestrel from the App Store or TestFlight, Apple handles the download and, if you have agreed to it in your device’s settings, may share anonymous crash and usage reports with developers. That is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Feedback you choose to send through TestFlight, or email you choose to send us, reaches us with whatever you put in it; we use it only to answer you and improve the app.
Children
Kestrel is suitable for all ages and, as it collects nothing, collects nothing from children.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Kestrel is made by Pronghorn Labs, part of Prairie Fire, LLC, in Colorado. Questions: hello@pronghornlabs.net.
