Common questions
My jobs aren’t showing on my other devices.
Aspen syncs through your private iCloud account. Make sure each device is signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on. Settings › iCloud in Aspen shows whether it is syncing or keeping records on that device only. Everything works offline either way, and catches up once iCloud is back.
Why did a job bill this amount?
Open the job to see its receipt. Each minute takes the client’s most specific matching rate: a holiday, then a setting, then a days-and-times window, then “any other time”. Rounding is always up, and a minimum is applied after rounding. Once a job is on a sent invoice, its receipt is locked, so changing a rate later doesn’t change what was billed.
Jobs aren’t going on my calendar.
Choose a work calendar in Settings › Calendar, and give Aspen full access to calendars when asked. If you said no before, turn it on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars (on the Mac, in System Settings). Events show the client’s name and times, and the place only for on-site work. Your job notes are never put on the calendar.
Mileage stopped counting when my phone was locked.
To keep measuring a drive while the phone is locked, Aspen needs location access set to Always. Open Settings, scroll to Aspen, tap Location and choose Always. Drive tracking is on iPhone only; on iPad and Mac you can add trips by hand.
Aspen didn’t read my receipt right.
Aspen reads the total and the date from the picture on your device, and shows both for you to check before you save. A flat, well-lit photo works best. You can always correct either one by hand.
How do I send an invoice?
From Money, review the invoice and send it. Aspen opens an email with the PDF attached, using the Mail account on your device. If no Mail account is set up, it offers the share sheet instead, so you can send it another way.
