Aspen privacy policy
Aspen does not collect, store, share or sell any information about you. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we run no server that it talks to. It is built only with Apple’s frameworks.
Your records
Your details, clients, rates, jobs, invoices, payments, trips and expenses, including receipt pictures and the routes of tracked drives, are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they sync between your devices through your private iCloud database, which only you can read. Apple stores it under Apple’s privacy policy. If iCloud is off, everything stays on the device. We never see any of it.
Please keep consumer names and health details out of job notes. Aspen is for logistics and billing, not for confidential information about the people you interpret for.
Some choices, such as your reminder times and which calendars to use, are saved on each device only.
Location and maps
On iPhone, Aspen uses your location only while you are tracking a drive. It asks for access while the app is in use when you start your first drive, and then for Always, so a drive keeps counting while the phone is locked. The points of the drive are kept with the trip so it can be shown on a map.
Aspen asks Apple Maps for a few things: the names of the places a tracked drive started and ended, and, when you save an on-site job and have entered a home address, the driving distance between your home address and the job’s address. To do that, those locations and addresses are sent to Apple, which handles them under Apple’s privacy policy. Trip maps are also drawn with Apple Maps.
Calendars
If you choose a work calendar, Aspen adds your jobs to it with the client’s name, the times, and the place only for on-site work. Your job notes are never put on the calendar. If you choose calendars to import from, Aspen reads their upcoming events so you can turn them into jobs, keeping only the times and place. If your calendar is synced with an account such as iCloud, Google or Exchange, events Aspen adds go there too, and anyone you share that calendar with can see them.
Camera, photos and receipts
Aspen uses the camera only when you take a picture of a receipt, and reads only the photo or file you pick. The amount and date are read from the receipt on your device. Receipts are stored with the expense, not in your Photos library.
Invoices and exports
Aspen never sends anything itself. When you send an invoice, it opens an email with the PDF attached, and your own Mail account sends it, or you choose where it goes from the share sheet. Mileage and expense spreadsheets go only where you save or share them. Those services carry them under their own terms.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled on your device and may show on your paired Apple Watch. They are not sent through any server of ours.
What Apple may collect
Apple handles the download and, if you have agreed to it in your device’s settings, may share anonymous crash and usage reports with developers. That is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Email you choose to send us reaches us with whatever you put in it; we use it only to answer you.
Children
Aspen is made for working interpreters, and collects nothing from anyone, including children.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Aspen is made by Pronghorn Labs, part of Prairie Fire, LLC, in Colorado. Questions: hello@pronghornlabs.net.
