Tarn privacy policy
Tarn does not collect, store, share or sell any information about you. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we run no server that it talks to. It shows you things that are already on your devices, and asks for each one only when a tile needs it.
What stays on your devices
- Calendars. Tarn reads your upcoming events to show them. It doesn’t change them.
- Reminders. Tarn reads your open reminders, marks one complete when you check it off, and moves ones still due to tomorrow when Night begins, unless you keep them.
- Photos. Tarn reads the album you choose, or your Favorites, to show them, and never changes or copies them. If a photo is stored in iCloud Photos, your device may download it from Apple to show it.
- Music. Tarn reads what the Music app is playing and sends it play, pause and skip commands.
- Home. Tarn reads your home’s accessories and controls them when you tap them, and watches motion and occupancy sensors to wake the screen.
- Timers are kept on the device, and handed to the system’s alarms or notifications while Tarn is closed.
Widgets read a copy of what the app shows, kept on the same device. None of this is sent to us.
Location, weather and drive times
Tarn asks for your location while the app is in use. It sends it to Apple Weather for the forecast, to Apple to find the name of the place, and, with the address of an upcoming event, to Apple Maps to work out the drive time. Apple handles these under Apple’s privacy policy. Tarn keeps the last location on the device so the weather still shows if a new one can’t be found.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, your scene setups and settings are kept in your own iCloud account so they follow you between devices. So that the Apple TV can show your day, the iPad also places there your upcoming events, open reminders, running timers and a rough location (to about a kilometre). This is your private iCloud storage, which only your devices signed in to your Apple Account can read; we can’t see it.
Purchases
Any subscription is sold and managed by Apple. Tarn asks Apple whether you have one; we never see your name, Apple Account or payment details.
What Apple may collect
Apple handles the download and, if you have agreed to it in your device’s settings, may share anonymous crash and usage reports with developers. That is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Email you choose to send us reaches us with whatever you put in it; we use it only to answer you.
Children
Tarn collects nothing from anyone, including children.
